Over the past decade, I have been obsessed with understanding human performance on and off the golf course and I have realized that a learning mindset is critical and that mindset is a by-product of the environment. To best help golfers, coaches and parents shatter any limiting beliefs, we cultivate the optimal environment.
Training Approach
Imagine attempting to learn to drive a car by only ever sitting in the passenger seat and watching some one else drive. It would be next to impossible and probably lead to multiple accidents on our roads. Well, this is exactly what is currently happening on our golf courses every day. While this is not as dangerous as crashing cars, golfers that are being taught the fundamentals and concepts of the swing often lack the practical understanding and ability to apply this into their game. Training with the following drills allows the athlete to learn, feel and apply changes to their swing, in essence, we allow the golfer to learn through getting them behind the wheel, experience and internalize a mind-body connection of the most effective motion for them. We empower the golfer to drive the car.
The traditional approach to changing a golf swing generally starts with an aesthetically driven goal and results in the athlete developing a false since of competency in their motion that rarely transfers to the golf course. This is a coach centered approach that provides convenience and instant gratification to the instructor.
Our training takes a player centered approach. The coach spends time pulling the player out of position to enable them to self discover how to implement more effective movement patterns through increasing their awareness of the sequence, muscle activation and dynamics of the swing.
Finally this increased awareness is trained in a way that will enable a player to challenge their brain, increase memory recall of effective mental representations and automate their new movements onto the golf course.
